How to Play Hangman

1. Start a new game by clicking the "New Game" button.
2. Guess letters by clicking on the on-screen keyboard.
3. Watch your guesses – correct letters fill in the word; incorrect ones build the hangman.
4. Win the game by revealing every letter before the hangman is complete.
5. Adjust difficulty in Settings to choose Easy, Medium, or Hard.
6. Share custom words with friends by entering your own word in Settings and sending them the link.

Example Playthrough

Say the hidden word is APPLE. At first you see: _ _ _ _ _
You guess the letter "P" and it reveals: _ P P _ _

Keep the momentum going! From _ P P _ _, try "L" next: _ P P L _

Next guess—"E"—and you see: _ P P L E

One final guess—"A"—and you see: A P P L E — you’ve saved the stick figure and won the game!

FAQs

How many wrong guesses do I get?

You get up to 9 incorrect guesses before the hangman is fully drawn and the game ends.

Can I play on mobile?

Yes, the game is fully responsive—just load it in your phone’s browser and tap the letters.

What if I want a hint?

Click the "Get Hint" button (if enabled) to reveal one letter, but use hints wisely. You only get 2!

Can I add my own words?

Open the Settings panel, type your word under Custom Word, click "Use Custom Word," and share the generated link.

Play Hangman With Friends

Challenge your friends by creating a custom word for them to guess! Simply:

1. Click the settings icon (gear)
2. Go to the "Custom Word" tab
3. Enter your word in the "Custom Word" field
4. Click "Use Custom Word"
5. Copy and share the generated link with your friends

They'll receive a special hangman game with your custom word, but they won't see the word until they guess it correctly or run out of attempts!
