  • Position 2: ? (needs tile from your rack)
  • Position 3: ? (needs tile from your rack)

If you have tiles P and P in your rack, this could form "APPLE"

What Is Word Chums?

A 15x15 tile game with its own scoring, bonuses, and power-ups. The solver here scores with Word Chums tile values while using a broad WWF-sized lexicon.

  • Tile scoring: Q/X/Z = 10, J = 8, K = 5; plenty of 1-point vowels.
  • Bonuses: DL/TL/DW/TW squares plus crown bonuses for long words.
  • Power-ups: Hints and Bombs can reshape your rack—run the solver first to save them.
  • Board feel: If you know Scrabble/WWF, the grid feels familiar, but values and bonuses are Word Chums-only.

How Do You Play?

Form words on the 15x15 grid using your rack and existing board tiles. Every letter uses Word Chums values, and premium squares multiply letters or words—use crowns for extra bonuses.

How to Win More

Use these expert strategies alongside the solver to stay a step ahead of your opponents:

  • Capitalize on Bonus Tiles

Always aim for those Triple Word and Double Letter tiles. Dropping high-value letters like Q or Z on these spots can send your score through the roof!

  • Leverage Short Power Words

Two letter words like QI, ZA, and JO may be small, but they pack a punch. Use them in tight spaces to rack up unexpected points.

  • Plan for Crown Multipliers

Building long words to fill your Power Bar isn’t just for show. Those crowns multiply your score and give you a massive advantage.

  • Stack for Double Points

Add letters to existing words to create combos. For example, turning PLAY into PLAYS can form new words and pile up points.

    Hook Words

    • Add an "S" to Make Plurals:
      • CATCATS
      • WORDWORDS
      • GAMEGAMES
    • Add an "A" to Form New Words:
      • ROUNDAROUND
      • LINEALINE
      • BUNTABUNT
    • Prefix or Suffix Hooks:
      • HEROHEROES (add ES)
      • CARESCARE (add S as a prefix)
      • PLAYREPLAY (add RE as a prefix)
Explore words ending in s to find more simple hook words.
  • Block Your Opponent's Opportunities

Don’t let them grab the big multipliers! If you can’t use a premium tile, play defensively and block it to cut off their options.

  • Know Your Chum’s Strengths

Each Chum offers unique boosts. Pick the one that matches your playstyle, whether you’re about strategy or raw points.

Situational Playbook

Double- / Triple-Stack Setup

  • Open the board editor and map a two-move chain before playing.
  • Park stem letters (ER, ING, LY) on the board to bridge the gap next turn.
  • Leave your highest-value tile on the rack for the final placement.

Close Scoring Lanes

  • Use the 2-letter list to plug exposed premium squares.
  • Pick defensive plays that deny the lane even if they score low.
  • Record the position in the board editor and test their likely replies.

Power-Up Timing

  • Run the solver first; only burn a hint when no strong plays remain.
  • Save bombs for racks with three or more 1-point consonants.
  • Watch the crown meter so your power-up move triggers its bonus.
